2006 –
Steve MacLean becomes Canada’s second person to walk in space. During the second EVA of STS-115, MacLean and Burbank continued work on the P3/P4 truss, which allowed the truss’ solar arrays to be deployed the next day. Steve MacLean became the Canadian Space Agency President on September 1, 2008.
1959 – Luna 2 (USSR) becomes the first manmade object to strike the moon.
