2004 – Asteroid Apophis is discovered. Near-Earth asteroid Apophis is a potentially hazardous asteroid that will safely pass close to Earth on April 13, 2029. It will come about 20,000 miles (32,000 kilometers) from our planet’s surface — closer than the distance of many satellites in geosynchronous orbit (about 22,236 miles, or 36,000 kilometers, in altitude).
2003 – Landing of STS-111 Endevour. After two days of bad weather, Endeavour was diverted to Edwards AFB in California. Mission duration: 13 days, 20 hours, 35 minutes, 56 seconds

1933 – Viktor Ivanovich Patsayev was a Soviet cosmonaut, 1 spaceflight, 23.8 days in space. He flew on the Soyuz 11 mission and on board the space station Salyut 1 he operated the Orion 1 Space Observatory beccoming the first man to operate a telescope outside the Earth’s atmosphere. He was part of the third space crew to die during a space flight. It is thought that a broken valve allowed all the air to escape the capsule during their return to Earth.
