2014 – NASA’s Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer, also known as LADEE, ended its mission by a planned crash into the moon. LADEE had spent seven months orbiting the moon in an operational orbit of 156 kilometers and studying its exosphere. It was launched on September 6, 2013

2000 -In 7.5 hours a team of scientists led by Jeffrey McClintock (Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics) use the Chandra X-ray Observatory to capture images of the spectrum of a stellar black hole in the Constellation Ursa Major.
