2000 - Spacewatch observation date for the discovery of a Pluto like rock, a Trans-Neptunian Object (TNO), initially named 2000 WR106, later named 20000 Varuna

1964 - Mariner 4 Launch (Mars Flyby Mission). On July 14, 1965 Mariner 4 came within 9912 km of Mars. 22 images were returned to Earth. The Martian atmosphere was analysed and discovered to be much thinner than previously thought.
