2004 - Space Ship One becomes the first privately funded space plane to achieve space flight.

2006 - Pluto's newly discovered moons are officially named Nix & Hydra. Pluto has 5 moons.

2003 - Almost 20 years to the day since her trip to space, Sally Ride is inducted into the Astronauts Hall of Fame becoming the first woman to be honored by this institution.

1951 - Death of Charles Dillon Perrine. He was an American astronomer who worked at the Lick Observatory and, from 1909, as director of the Cordoba National Observatory of Argentina. Among other discoveries he is known for the discovery of two Jovian moons, now known as Himalia (1904) and Elara (1905).
