1998 - Announcement in Nature magazine of the discovery of two Uranian irregular moons.

1945 - Birthday, Michael J. Smith, American Astronaut and Captain in the US Navy, who was the pilot of Space Shuttle Challenger, STS - 51-L. He died with his crew on January 28, 1986, 73 seconds after lift-off.  His was the last voice heard on the voice recorder.
